ForeBoard Tournament Organizer Guide
Welcome to ForeBoard, the easiest way to run a golf tournament from your phone. Whether you're organizing a club scramble, a charity event, or a weekend shamble with friends, this guide will walk you through every step — from setup to the final leaderboard.
Phase 1 — Getting Started
Before your tournament tees off, work through this checklist to make sure everything is in place.
- Create your event — Set the event name, date, location, and format (Scramble or Shamble). This takes about 60 seconds.
- Add teams — Create each team that will compete. You can add all teams at once or do them one by one as people register.
- Add players — Enter the names of everyone playing. You can type them one at a time or paste a bulk list if you have a roster ready.
- Assign players to teams — Put each player on the correct team. Again, you can do this one player at a time or paste a whole roster for a team.
- Select your course — Search for your course in the ForeBoard database and select it. If it's not there, you can add it manually in about two minutes.
- Assign starting holes — If you're running a shotgun start, tell ForeBoard which hole each team begins on. ForeBoard will handle pairing teams appropriately.
- Distribute scoring links — Each team will receive a unique scoring link so they can enter their team scores. Decide how you want to distribute via email link, QR code on a cart card, text, or all the above. Print cart cards before the event if you're using them.
- Verify team access — Send a test link to yourself and one team captain to make sure everything works before the round starts.
You're ready. Time to play.

Tips From Other Organizers
Here are some other hard-won insights from experienced ForeBoard organizers:
- Send links the night before and print cart cards as backup. Email is great for giving people advance notice and time to test, but cart cards are invaluable on tournament day when a phone is lost, a battery dies, or a team member is confused. Having both means almost zero technical delays.
- Use the Tournament Progress view to spot stalled teams early. If a team hasn't submitted a score in 20 minutes, give them a call/text right away. It's usually just a forgotten submission or a dead phone battery, but you'll catch issues fast before they become bigger problems.
- Manually add your home course to ForeBoard before your next tournament. If the course doesn’t show up in search, ppending two minutes to add your course now means you won’t be scrambling to do it the day of the tournament.
- Test your entire setup an hour before tee-off. Add a fake team to the tournament, open a scoring page, and enter a fake score to make sure everything is running smoothly. You can delete the team/player/score after the test. Catching a tech hiccup early is way better than during the round.
- Leave the leaderboard on a clubhouse TV/screen. Golfers/casual attendees love watching the standings update in real time. It adds energy to the event, and spectators stay engaged. It updates automatically.
